Ski Camp - Parents Information

Dear Parents,

As a Camp Owner, Ski Instructor and mother who has done a great deal of research into camps I want to offer advice to those of you who are just beginning the process of finding a summer camp for your children and to present some unique features of Ski Camp International to the experienced parents.

With so many options to choose from, the task of finding the right camp for your child can be downright daunting. Here are a few things to consider before you even begin your search.

First, what do you hope to get out of your child's camp experience?

Some parents are just looking for an inexpensive way to occupy their kids for the summer while they work. That won't take much effort. But considering the amount of money you pay for summer camp, you ought to also take into account the value that you are getting for your dollar. You could spend a few hundred dollars per week on a day camp simply to keep your child out of trouble for the summer (or so you hope), or you could view summer camp as an investment in your child's development and future.

If you view your child's camp experience as an investment in their development, then you have to decide what it is you are trying to develop.

» Do you want them to develop academically, athletically or do you want them to expand their horizons with culture and the arts?
» Do you want to prepare them for college, or give them an opportunity to "try on" different careers?
» Do you just want them to explore new interest and broaden their current areas of interests?

Ski Camp International was carefully organized to offer a wide variety of activities, not only those designated to improve the athletic skills but the ones for building strong character values and friendship. In addition, we offer children the opportunity to learn and understand different cultures and expand their knowledge through travel.

The next thing you have to do is to ask your child what he or she wants to get out of a summer camp experience?

The last thing you want to do is spend good money on a camp only to get a phone call from a distressed child on the second day telling you that the camp is "too much" for her or him. Communication is the main key here.
Talk to them, ask questions, offer complete information and finally let them take the decision. If to begin with they are not interested at all in skiing, learning how to ski or any kind of athletic activities chances are that you will get that phone call.
Please keep in mind though that we do make all the efforts to accommodate our campers.

We do not operate a boot camp, ours is a FUN CAMP.

In our relationship with the parents communication is also top priority so please call us.

Finally, think outside the box.

Today's children and teens are much more sophisticated than they were even 10 years ago. Just the thought of abandoning their TV, computer games, cell phone and iPod is enough to make a child frustrated. I'm not saying it isn't good for them to get a break from these things from time to time. I'm a strong advocate of that.
We found the middle way though and when we chose the camp location and facilities we made sure that the level of comfort is similar to the one the American children have at home.
For more information please check out our Lodging and Meals page.
Also, for the same reason of sophistication we chose programs that have nothing to do with the ordinary.
Our action packed days are tailored to bring the adrenaline rush that our children and teens are seeking.

Thank you for reading my message.

Best regards,
Joana Weber - Camp Owner & Ski Instructor

Have a Happy Day and we hope your child will join our Fun and Action Oriented Summer Camp!
